Wow where did the last six months go? It seems it took me longer to climb back up from my valley of "Cancer Challenges" then I imagined it would. The good news is I made it! Last week I went to my oncologist and received a clean bill of health, and was told not to come back for six months :)
So now it is time to get on with life! After reflecting on the lessons of suffering I learned in the past year I have changed my career focus. Instead of returning to work as an activities coordinator I have applied and been accepted with an organization called Nursing Home Ministries as a Chaplain. Next month I will be starting to work at Pacific Gardens. It is a Alzheimer's Special Care Center. I will be doing "one on one visits" with the residents as well as teaching a Bible Study each week.
Life seems so short now. Every Dawn is worthy, beautiful to behold, whether it is stormy or bright and warm. I pray that my "earth assignment" will be extended so I may give out more love and hugs and as I prepare for a life beyond this one, perhaps I can pave the way for others too!

- I have always been a person to see each phase of my life as a new adventure.I have had a quirky habit of giving a name to each segment. I have reserved the name "Dawn" for the grown up me! I have been waiting decades until I had reached enough maturity to qualify as "Dawn". In January I was out flying. While thousands of feet off the ground, floating between clouds I decided to declare "Dawns Arising" as I flew over Mt. Hood.I wondered what lessons I would need to learn to fully grow into my new Identity. As soon as I had landed the lesson of my life began. I was told I needed to come in for a Biopsy on my left Breast, and March 12th 2009 I had breast cancer surgery. This was not the end but the first step in a long trip! I had a 3.8 cm lump removed and was told the cancer has spread to my lymph nodes. A mountain bigger than Mt Hood is before me! Cancer is a lonely walk and I decided I might as well invite my family and friends to travel with me and anyone else so inclined. I am hoping other Cancer Survivors further along in the journey will stop in and say Hi, and encourage one another. "Dawn"
