After a long absence I have decided to make this blog site the place where I share with special friends. I have been on Face book the last year and do not find it to my liking. I think I will use it as a spring board and screening device to filter friends to this site for more private and in depth conversations. :)
I have been a busy girl this past year! I am working hard at my new identity, "Dawn."
Last fall I enrolled at my local university to work on a degree in literature. In the fall I enjoyed a basic writing class and I am just finishing my winter term class this week. I decided to take a Junior Level poetry class. It has been a good time, and stretching. Many of the poems we were required to write involved issues about personal healing. I will share some with you as soon as I turn my final projects in and breath for a couple of days. I had forgot how much students long for and look forward to Spring Break!!! I will visit again soon and tell you the two other pieces of my new Identity!

- I have always been a person to see each phase of my life as a new adventure.I have had a quirky habit of giving a name to each segment. I have reserved the name "Dawn" for the grown up me! I have been waiting decades until I had reached enough maturity to qualify as "Dawn". In January I was out flying. While thousands of feet off the ground, floating between clouds I decided to declare "Dawns Arising" as I flew over Mt. Hood.I wondered what lessons I would need to learn to fully grow into my new Identity. As soon as I had landed the lesson of my life began. I was told I needed to come in for a Biopsy on my left Breast, and March 12th 2009 I had breast cancer surgery. This was not the end but the first step in a long trip! I had a 3.8 cm lump removed and was told the cancer has spread to my lymph nodes. A mountain bigger than Mt Hood is before me! Cancer is a lonely walk and I decided I might as well invite my family and friends to travel with me and anyone else so inclined. I am hoping other Cancer Survivors further along in the journey will stop in and say Hi, and encourage one another. "Dawn"
